Devlog #19: The Final Third

20 days in, I now have a functional game with a story, fully implemented mechanics, and a clean UI. At this point, the only real thing left to do is to make a couple polish/extra adjustments, and then I will finally be able to get into this project's audio. I definitely won't be launching this by January 22nd, but an early February release date now seems almost certain.

In terms of audio for this type of game, there honestly isn't too much that I'll need to do. The most important sounds will be the card-related ones, which I'm going to attempt to record myself to ensure I can make it match the sound in my head. I'll try and dive into more detail on my process for recording and processing sounds as I get to doing them. As for the music, I'll likely work on them one at a time, drafting some simple themes/melodies before fleshing it out a bit more. I'll also be utilizing Wwise for this, so I'll share some of my process on that as well, as one of my personal goals is to be proficient at working with Wwise.

So, for tomorrow, I plan to:

  • Make slight font changes to certain portions of the game
  • Experiment with idea involving particle systems, only implementing if it doesn't break anything else
  • Record the card sounds I'll need

This is pretty exciting for me, can't wait to share upcoming developments with you all.
