Devlog #8: The Bare Minimum


Huzzah, managed to hit all three points I set out for in my last devlog. Added the player controller, some skyboxes, made all 4 of the rooms and textured them, though they're simple boxes and the textures honestly could probably be better, but that'll be something to address later. Also found a nice collection of card faces I can use for the game items. Which, speaking of, is going to be my next main focus. 

Getting these items functional might honestly be more important than the game environment at this stage with how much they influence story and progression. So for tomorrow, I really wanna make some decent headway on them. I plan to:

  • Create the first item and place it in a room
  • Make this item usable when the player is near it
  • Display the basic item UI when used

If I get the first item working within a reasonable time I'll start to add the others. That being said, I anticipate the most challenging part of that to be getting the item UI working, so we'll see how things go.
